Every year in the United States, 6-8 million cats and dogs enter shelters
each year. Of these, 70% of cats and 60% of dogs are euthanized in shelters.
There are 14 states where it is confirmed that gas chambers are used as the
most common method of animals euthanization. This method prolongs the death
of the animal, as it can sometimes take up to 40 minutes before the animal
finally is put out of its misery. Also, each year, taxpayers pay roughly $2
billion dollars to round up, house, kill, and dispose of animals. We are
petitioning the Obama administration to stop funding kill shelters, stop
puppy mills, and help find animals a safe and happy home.
