I believe that the first step to fixing the economy is reducing the printing of money but continuing to mint coins and therefor increase the relative value of the money,
I suggest starting with stopping the further printing of money entirely. Minting can continue however. The next immediate step is to remove the decimal system from US currency. This will have very little negative effect, as no items that can be purchased at a store are valued at less than a dollar. The cent would become worth a dollar, and so on for all of the coins.
As the fabric begins to decay, the useable paper money will reduce.
The final step of this plan is to increase the ratio of metals in coins to reflect their current value, essentially backing the currency with itself, as has been proven to work best.
