Abolish federal laws against the growth of industrial hemp; allowing farmers produce this extremely productive strain.

Created by R.W. on January 12, 2013

This petition is to abolish the Marijuana Tax Act of 1937, in particularly, to recognize Cannabis Sativa varieties separately. We need to end the DEAs oversight of Industrial Hemp production in the United States and return it to the Department of Agriculture.

As a country we need to increase our labor force to help the economy and we need to recognize the vast cost of agriculture production on our environment. We can provide jobs, encourage innovation and be good stewards of our lands by promoting sustainable agriculture.

Hemp has been grown for at least the last 12,000 years for fiber (textiles and paper) and food. There is no better time to repeal all efforts against this commodity and lower taxation on the growth and production of industrial hemp.
