The Federal Reserve has distorted our economy and been the major cause of all of our worst economic crises since its creation in 1913. It essentially has complete control over the economy and can raise or lower interest rates at will by buying or selling government bonds. Since its creation, its hyperinflationary tactics, designed to prolong prosperity, have led to major economic crashes, such as the Great Depression and the current Great Recession.
The solution to this problem is to abolish the Federal Reserve, thereby minimizing government control of the economy. Instead of having a currency system based on notes issued by the Federal Reserve, which can be printed at will by government bureaucrats, we should return to a commodity (gold and silver)-backed monetary system.
