Amid an epidemic of mass-shootings in the United States, the US government has been unable to enact new laws to regulate firearms for the safety of the public, due to the opposition and lobbying of the National Rifle Association and other pro-gun groups, as well as the manufacturers of firearms.
This pro-gun influence has contributed to the lack of regulations and background checks which have enabled deadly weapons in the hands of malicious people who have armed themselves for deadly attacks upon innocent people in schools, theaters, malls and other public places.
The cause and effect practically amounts to domestic terrorism. No resources have been put towards the control of weapons and ammunition nor the enforcement of laws to limit the types or numbers of weapons being purchased.
