The National Sex Offender Registry is and has been discriminating against one sector of the American public. Why should this group of people, most of whom have completed their time, be subject to the emotional discrimination from society when they are simply trying to move on from their mistake and live their lives? The constitution states that the government shall not discriminate or segregate one person or group of people in society, yet this is exactly what the registry does. These people realize that they made a mistake, and yet they are forced to live in fear of retaliation, and their lives, from the public because of a mistake. If we continue with the registry, then what's stopping the government from requiring other crimes to be registered?
