In early January 2012, President Obama had the opportunity to stand up and defend the rights of We the People under the Constitution by vetoing the NDAA bill. The bill contains an authorization for American citizens to be detained INDEFINITELY without access to due process.
This is an extremely scary and powerful bill and President Obama announced his opposition to the aforementioned provision. However, he decided to go ahead and sign the bill into law anyways.
This is very discouraging, and it is my hope that President Obama will rethink his decision and push for the elimination of this provision. Senator Rand Paul has already pushed for the elimination of this measure-- let's see some bipartisanship that Congress is lacking!
