In modern America, pennies are becoming less and less significant. They are rarely used and usually drop out of circulation, failing at the only job they are supposed to accomplish: being money. In addition, pennies cost more to make than they are worth and will continue to cost the federal government and thus us, the people, more and more. Many developed nations similar to ours, such as Australia, New Zealand, Denmark, Brazil, and recently Canada, have removed their one cent coin without major issues. The one cent coin is an overall waste and failure and minting must be stopped to save the people billions of dollars and hours.
