Abolish or Edit the Electoral College

Created by A.H. on October 30, 2014

The Electoral College undermines the people's right to vote for a president. With the Electoral College, Maryland is not important compared to California. Also, If I vote Republican in California, the Electoral College changes my vote to Democrat, this is because my vote is a "suggestion" to the Electors, which they override. Without the Electoral College, my vote would equal any other person's vote, even if they would be in a swing state. If I vote Democrat in a Republican state, I would still vote for my candidate. The Electoral College was created due to the illiteracy of the American people in 1776 (around 40%), but today there is roughly 14% illiteracy, showing that the Electoral College needs to be at least edited, or abolished and replaced, hopefully by a National Popular Vote.
