Abolish the out of date Electoral College voting system.

In this day and age it is very possible to abolish the electoral college system and use instead the popular vote to elect our representatives. Voting is a sacred American right for which the blood of our families has been shed. According to some online sources only 61.6% of the voting eligible population cast a ballot in the 2008 general election. I believe that the electoral college system discourages eligible voters from voting because they feel their vote won't make a difference. I have heard people say this many times "Well Texas will always be republican" or "California will always vote democrat so it doesn't matter if I vote." The electoral college makes me feel like my voice is lost and that it will never be heard. Now is the time to abolish the electoral college voting system!
