I believe politicians should work for free for the betterment of our nation. The current retirement plans are more than sufficient for any member of the government body. Politicians or elected by the people FOR the people. Seeing as politicians only agree on pay raises I firmly believe this service to the community should be conducted without any financial compensation. Cost of living expenses should be all any politician should be compensated, anything in addition corrupts our government.
