Abolish the Penny

Can you imagine walking into a bank and saying,"Ill sell you one hundred pennies for one dollar and twenty cents." No. That would never happen, and yet the U.S. government spends 1.2 cents manufacturing a one cent coin. Money's purpose is to facilitate the transaction of goods so we don't have to trade to exchange goods. The penny does not do this because no one spends pennies! The U.S. has gotten rid of a coin before when they stopped making a half-cent piece which, at the time, had as much buy power as a dime. Australia, Brazil, Mexico and many others have already gotten rid of their one-cent piece and instead round to the nearest 0.05 of a dollar instead. Charity donations did not go down in these countries after they abolished the penny. It is an easy way to help the economy.
