ABOLISH PERMANENT ALIMONY IN ALL 50 STATES. Alimony violates the constitution, promising equal protection under the law

Created by E.B. on December 18, 2012

It is unconstitutional, that men still have to support their Ex-wives, EVEN AFTER CHILDREN ARE GROWN, when women are afforded the same financial opportunities as men. Transitional alimony is one thing, but PERMANENT ALIMONY is wrong. Most states have already vacated Permanent Alimony. Why is NJ still hanging onto this sexism? If a man gets divorced and re-marries, he has a whole new set of expenses. If the Ex-wife can continue to live off of the ex-husband, it encourages her not to re-marry or go back to work (OR WORK UNDER THE TABLE). Kind of how people have taken advantage of the welfare system.
This law has also turned itself back onto the woman, hurting her as well, if she earned more than he.
