Abolish the policy of "Mandatory Overtime" instituted by many companies.

Created by E.M. on April 06, 2012

The practice of "Mandatory Overtime" is nothing more than thinly-veiled slave labor. If a worker has no choice but to sacrifice his personal time or lose his job, that is not a choice - it is coercion by his employer.

An employer has little incentive to hire additional employees when he can work 2 people 60 hours a week for less than the cost of 3 people working 40 hours per week. This is because of regulations requiring the employer to pay into the employees SSI, unemployment, etc.

I propose either abolishing "Mandatory Overtime" or increasing the Overtime Compensation to twice the workers wages for hours worked over 40.

This will have many benefits - including increased hiring of labor, more personal time for employees, and improved moral in the workplace.

Thank you for your time.
