An ongoing concern of our economic disparity and fragile economy seems to be the criminalization of poverty. As individuals struggle with limited incomes so do cities and municipalities across our nation. However these authorities have the power to enact traffic regulations and enforcement that appear to serve the purpose of local revenue possibly to the detriment of public safety. To address this concern, we request that revenue collected from traffic violations can no longer be assumed by the enacting authority. While enforcement quotas and fines continue to incentivize responsible citizens, the revenue must be collected by state or federal treasuries to promote responsible municipalities.
