Professions that normally earn tips are at this moment allowed to be payed on a "Tip Credit" basis - where employers can count the tips an employee may or may not make against their wages. Most tipped professions earn far below minimum wage due to this, and while businesses are required to pay them the difference if their tips do not bring their income equal to or above min. wage, most alter employee records so they do not have to do so, and take action against employees that speak up about it or try to educate their customers about tipping etiquette.
We ask that the government pass a law to make this practice illegal, and that all servers, delivery drivers, and other tipped professions be paid at least minimum wage for their work.
