Abolish & Rescind the Faircloth Amendment! Because in the end it will cost tax payers more not to build new housing.

The Faircloth Amendment prevents HUD from funding the construction of new Public Housing. The problem we are facing now is; It costs much more to maintain aging and eroding structures, many of which do not meet current modern building codes, than to build new housing. Tax Credit/ Voucher housing is failing. Many PHA's are being squeezed to make repairs on these units, which do not generate enough funds on their own. Also, the rents are too high for elderly and disabled Americans to afford. By creating new, "green concept" modern versions of public housing, PHA's wouldn't require as much in CF funds to maintain the newer units. And it will ensure that those Americans who need it the most are served. Currently, the Faircloth Amendment is a failure.... We need to tell Congress!
