Abolish the Selective Service System

Created by M.G. on October 17, 2016

Over 16 million males are currently registered in the Selective Service System. While this system made sense in the 40s-70s, our military (and war itself) has changed. Our military no longer requires nearly as many personnel as it did in those eras. Modern technology has allowed us to drastically reduce the number of men and women on the front lines, and in many cases, eliminated the necessity for ground troops entirely. The US is allied with many countries who also have strong military forces, lowering the odds of a draft ever being necessary again - to virtually zero.

The Selective Service System is an outdated and unnecessary agency and is no longer required to ensure the safety of our country in this modern age. It needs to be dissolved, and its funding moved to pertinent programs.
