This petition is intended to gather support to Abolish the selective service system.
The selective service system is an agency that receives more than $20 Million in tax payer money to maintain a database of all male US citizens ages 18 to 26 for the purposes of forced military conscription in the event of a 'national emergency'.
Male citizens who wish to apply for federal student aid for higher education (FAFSA), to obtain a driver's license (in most states) or hold a government job are REQUIRED to sign up for the selective service, with no other option.
This system clearly violates the civil liberties of those who identify as male. It is archaic and reminiscent of a bygone age.
