Abolish sliding sentencing scales that destroy lives and establish more family services within the justice system.

Created by T.G. on January 31, 2014

Prisoners in a Pennsylvania are being held without family contact for as long as 3 months during a classification period. Families get no information on custody level determination, or notice when transferred to new facilities. There are few Social Services for inmates family at the PADOC and no staff is forthcoming. We ask that regulations be set forth to provide information releases regarding health, welfare, location and custody status to an inmates preferred contact, within limits that it does not compromise the security of the institution. Also we ask that minimum to maximum scales that keep non-violent offenders in prison for indeterminate times at the courts discretion be abolished. Indeterminate sentencing causes financial and emotional distress, and problems with reintegration.
