When the Quakers introduced solitary confinement in the 1800s, it was meant for the prisoners to read the Bible. But when they saw the devastating effects it had, they too though it was too cruel. In the past three decades, SC has been used more and more.
Solitary confinement (SC) is a form of cruel and unusual punishment. In SC, you are confined to a king-sized bed room for 23 hours a day. This can lead to devastating effects on prisoners mental health such as depression, halutionation, and suicide.
