Within the past several years there have been several high profile legal cases where individuals have wrongfully shot and killed unarmed citizens.
The majority of the defenses have used the "Stand your ground" law. These laws often rely on the shooter's "belief" at the time, which is impossible to prove. There should always be a "duty to retreat" whenever there is conflict. The only exception being you are already in your home and protecting your family (castle doctrine).
If the shooter does not retreat or there is an obvious advancement of the shooter towards the victim to get better aim, there is no reason why the shooter should not be convicted of a degree of murder.
Protect our families and friends and please abolish these laws that protect irresponsible, dangerous gun owners
