Abolish Standardized Testing for Learning Assessment in Grades K-12

Created by K.R. on September 23, 2012

Standardized testing is not an adequate method of assessing learning. Standardized testing leads states to lower their education standards in order to meet federal reporting criteria. It causes teachers to teach to the test instead of teaching a more in-depth curriculum. It also is not an accurate measure of the different types of intelligence. Even though this law has been in effect for over a decade the United States still lags far behind most developed countries in education performance. We need to get off the standardized testing hamster wheel and develop a challenging education system that holds students to higher standards.
