We the people ask the federal government to Call on Congress to act on an issue:

Abolish the statute of limitations on rape

Created by S.S. on May 20, 2016

In many states, there is a statute of limitations on rape cases where if victims do not report a rape having occurred in a certain (often short) amount of time, the perpetrator(s) cannot be tried for their crime of rape. This petition proposes that the statute of limitations on any crime in which non-consensual sexual intercourse that is committed by physical force, threat of injury, or other duress, be completely demolished. Many victims can only come to terms or build up the strength to report such a brutal crime many years after it happens. This revision to the law would allow the guilty in the context of rape to be punished justly.
