The current model for tax collection is no different than that of a mob. Require people to pay taxes for their "protection". If they don't pay the money, men with guns will come knocking on their door to arrest them. This system should be replaced for the following reasons (not limited):
- It's immoral. Plain and simple.
- It builds resentment from the people.
- It encourages the government to be lazy. The government is guaranteed it's billions in taxes, whether or not it deserves it.
How does a government earn revenue? The same way churches do, donations. Moving to a donation based revenue system fixes those 3 issues. If the government wants revenue, it needs to actually work for the people to get it. Kickstarter has a great model for getting donations through rewards that could be used.
