We need the federal government to abolish the electoral college to allow our president to be elected by popular vote. In 2020 our individual votes should matter! Twice in just under 2 decades a candidate has won the presidential election but received fewer votes than their opponent. This cannot happen. The reasoning behind the original creation of the electoral college is outdated and no longer applies to the countries current situation. Information is readily available to all citizens who seek it through huge advancements in technology. The system served its purpose but it is time for our country to move forward!
