Abolish the use of the penny.

Created by C.G. on January 22, 2013

The penny is a drain on the economy and the economic system, and ought to be abolished.
The US Mint, for each penny created, spends two cents to make the coin. This is extremely wasteful, and, despite Obama's request to the US mint to reduce the cost of the penny, this is unlikely to significantly change, as inflation pushes the value of the penny down. Though copper costs have gone down, the penny is still a drain upon our economic system; the coin has so little value that they don't contribute anything towards facilitating trade, and doesn't contribute anything to our economy. In fact, our overseas bases have already eliminated them.
It's a drain to our financial system that can't do it's only job.
