The VA Optical Shop program has many issues which delay veterans proper and prompt access to the prescribed lenses and frames needed to ensure their health and safety. The implementation of a voucher system, for those veterans that qualify for free or supplemented cost eyewear, will not only increase the access to the needed health prosthetic in a timely manner, but will also help local businesses by bringing federal money into the local marketplace. This is a huge opportunity to not only increase the efficiency of the Veterans Health Administration’s access to care, but also give America an economic boost to provide more opportunity for job growth.
