Christopher Columbus is a symbol of genocide against indigenous people throughout the world. It is crucial that all the States in America abolish any holiday or celebration that highlights the achievements of Christopher Columbus. Historically, he brought disease and crimes against the indigenous people in the Caribbean. The conquest of the land and the slave trade were key weapons for his genocidal campaign against the indigenous nations. His example lead the way for future exploitation of the indigenous way of life rooted in the respect for the land, air and water. It is important that the United States Government ban any attempt from the States to celebrate his legacy.
