There was a time in the past when the "Half Penny" was used as a normal currency. As time moved on and the penny decreased in value that staple of currency needed to be phased out. Now it is time for the "Whole Penny" to do the same. It is such a small value that most people will not take the time required to pick it up off of the ground, and t is not possible to make a viable penny out of materials that are worth less than its face value. It's costing Americans millions of dollars so that we can discard the useless denomination.
A foreseeable problem is that there are a huge number of transactions and taxes that take account on fractions of a penny. Perhaps we simply round to the nearest nickel at the end of any transaction? Statistically, there is no difference. Lets see what we can do.
