It costs about 1.8 cents to create each penny and the U.S. creates over 4 billion pennies a year. This will continue to grow worse because of inflation. The penny has too little value, an cannot purchase anything. We have previously abolished the half-penny so there's nothing wrong with the penny. Pennies take an average of 2 cents per transaction for a purchase which is not worth people's times.
