Abort Plans to Sign the Trans-Pacific Partnership

This is a petition to persuade Barack Obama to not sign the Trans-Pacific Partnership. The Trans-Pacific Partnership is a threat to democracy. Its contents were hidden from the public, until WikiLeaks leaked the document. Its articles are designed to limit internet freedom, give corporations power over the government, and extend copyright laws to unnecessary levels. While the Trans-Pacific Partnership is branded as a trade agreement, its contents are broader than a simple trade agreement. The agreement could empower corporations to skirt domestic courts and directly challenge health, environmental, and other public interest policies before extrajudicial foreign tribunals. It also threatens internet freedom by including articles from SOPA.
