I am one of 40.000 foreign "highly-skilled workers" who was randomly selected not to get an H-1B visa this year.
When I was 15, I won a national math competition in Zimbabwe. I got 800 for SAT I and II Math. I then was awarded nearly full funding to attend college in the US. I obtained a double degree - a BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering, and an AB in Music. Since then I have obtained a Master's degree in Engineering Management jointly through Duke and Dartmouth. My resume also includes experience at SAP and IBM.
My current work authorization (OPT STEM extension) will expire in December. These are the kind of people the US is turning away. Mr. President, please accelerate the Innovation Immigration Act, so people like me do not have to leave.
