Dear Mr. President,
As a result of the ongoing conflict in Syria, approximately 2,000,000 refugees have fled the country. Bordering countries are overwhelmed and cannot handle the large inflow of Syrians. As a result, more and more of these refugees are trying to flee further afield.
The UNHCR has asked other countries to take more refugees. The US has pledged to take about 2,000. That's .1% of those needing refuge.
Right now in Lebanon alone, there are about 800,000 Syrian refugees (some estimate closer to 1,000,000). Lebanon's population is only about 4,000,000. The population of the US is over 300,000,000. Don't leave Syrian refugees to suffer in overcrowded refugee camps, and don't place too high of a burden on border countries. Accept more refugees into the United States.
