We the undersigned believe that the United States of America has a moral obligation to partake in the resettlement of refugees fleeing the conflict in Syria and the conflicts of the wider Levantine world. The US should use its military heavy lift capacity to relocate refugees from overcrowded European ports for resettlement in the US. If Germany can accept 800,000 surely the US can also do so.
In keeping with our tradition, let us take those that seek to build a new life, safe and secure in our generous country.
"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
