We ask that President Obama accept the resignation of LtGen Craig Franklin in light of his recent decision to overturn a military jury sexual assault conviction of LtCol James Wilkerson and recommend him for promotion.
2012 was a record year for military sexual assaults. LtGen Franklin has told victims that star performers can get away with sexual assault even if convicted and that the UCMJ and sexual assault response process simply does not work.
The recent sexual assault of another individual by a different LtCol in charge of the Air Force's sexual assault response program underscores how even those charged with protecting victims can be the perpetrators.
