Acknowledge the role that violence in music and television plays in violence in society, and advocate its reduction.

Created by C.G. on January 19, 2013

There are many studies show that there is a clear connection between media and the level of aggression of a person.

The average American child is exposed to more than 53 hours a week of entertainment media, TV being the main form of daily media intake.

One report has stated that by age 18, the average American child has witnessed 16,000 simulated murders, and 200,000 acts of violence. Other reports show that some cartoons show as many as 80 acts of violence per hour.

Several reports have showed that exposure to violent music causes individuals to behave and respond to scenarios in a more aggressive manner than they would have without it.

The government should advocate the reduction of violence that is portrayed in music and television.
