Acquire federal assistance to preserve the historic burial-grounds at Wounded Knee, South Dakota

Created by S.S. on June 17, 2013

The Oglala tribe is striving to reclaim land containing burial-grounds at the Wounded Knee historic site. The land is appraised at $14,000 but priced at $4.9 million. This outrageous price is viewed as an effort to commercially exploit the land’s heritage. The Oglala consider this a profound desecration.

We request federal assistance to restore ownership of this land to the Sioux Nation. This will not only benefit the Oglala but will sublimely enhance the moral integrity of all peoples now inhabiting America.

The return of this land is viewed as both a solemn obligation and a fortunate opportunity for a reverent tribute to the ancient American cultures often forgotten but ever present, as historical echoes, resonating through the essential foundation of our lives today.
