The Energy Policy Act of 2005 has certain policies which have become known as the "Halliburton Loophole" due to former Vice President Cheney's connection to the company. This loophole includes exemptions from the Clean Water Act, the Safe Drinking Water Act, and the Clean Air Act.This applies to companies that carry out Hydraulic fracturing. These companies do not have to report the chemicals that are used in this process. These chemicals could leak into drinking water wells of surrounding towns, as has been reported in Pennsylvania. We ask that the White House and EPA act to close the "Halliburton Loophole." The right to know what may be in our drinking water is something all Americans deserve.
