Many petitions have gained the required number of signatures to attain a response.
However, many times the response is nothing more than a statement saying it is beyond the scope of We The People.
Should a petition gain the required number of signatures, this clearly indicates an issue is of high importance to the American people and should not be ignored. A formal response and action should be taken.
If the petition is beyond the scope of WTP, the petition with all signatures should be forwarded to the appropriate government agency and some formal action should result. In lieu of other action being possible, the issue should warrant further public input in a public forum which should be open to all political parties.
