I am asking you today to consider all facts before signing any legislation that would over-regulate the use of "Assault Weapons" and high capacity magazines.
By our own governments findings (National Vital Statistics Reports, Vol. 61, No. 6); Assault (homicide) by discharge of firearms accounted for just 3.6% (11,101) of deaths in the US in 2011.
By the same account, drug induced deaths accounted for 12.9% (40,239) of US totals and Alcohol-induced deaths accounted for 8.4% (26,256) of US totals.
We could compare the number of drug and alcohol related vehicular homicides occurring yearly which continues to outweigh firearms homicides. Laws, regulations, taxes and politics do little in the face of human will power.
Don't punish those of us who obey the law simply because of a few.
