Act on Statehood for Puerto Rico. Accept the results of the 2012 referendum and make Puerto Rico the 51st State!

Created by S.L. on August 31, 2015

In 2012 a valid referendum was held in Puerto Rico asking citizens about the future status of their territory. The result was a preference towards ending the current unincorporated territory arrangement and moving towards statehood within the United States. Since then very little has been done to act on this vote. The current unrepresentative status of Puerto Rico is not right. They deserve voting Senators and Representatives, and Puerto Rico deserves to be the 51st State. The President and Congress should immediately act upon this with an aim towards making Puerto Rico the next State on July 4, 2016.
