As of December 29, 2012 benefits for millions of long term unemployed American citizens will expire in the Emergency Unemployment Compensation program (EUC), weakening the economy by reducing the spending of the unemployed and overall consumer demand. Through no fault of their own, millions of hard working Americans still cannot find gainful employment in an economy with only one job vacancy for every five unemployed workers. Even though these payments are only from $175 to $335 per week, these small amounts allow them to continue to survive - paying their rent or mortgage, paying for groceries and gas, and paying for their heating bills and other utilities and continuing to support the economy. Please do not cut off some of these Americans who just need a little more help.
