Dear Mr. President,
Women have made incredible progress since gaining the right to vote: from the Equal Pay Act of 1963 (which aimed to abolish wage disparities between men and women), to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (that prohibits discrimination based on sex), and Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, that prohibits sex discrimination in federally funded education programs and activities. Yet despite this progress, any of these statutes could be repealed or narrowed in interpretation. Therefore, to protect these gains and even expand upon them, it is critical that you lobby Congress to pass the Equal Rights Amendment (HJ Res 69/SJ Res 21) which states in part:
"Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States on account of sex."
