A recent study by Google and SMU Geothermal Laboratory
found that using available technology there is close to three million megawatts of potential geothermal energy in the lower 48 states. This amount of energy is equivalent to ten times the energy of every coal plant in the United States operating today.
The White House should actively include geothermal energy in its green energy and job's proposals.
Geo thermal energy is zero carbon and produces the same high paying blue collar jobs that the oil and gas industry creates. Oil and gas companies already have the equipment and knowledge to develop these geothermal wells and could start almost immediately.
