For over a year, the Syrian regime of Bashar al-Assad has used indiscriminate violence against its own people, attempting to repress any opposition. Violence has only escalated despite UN & American sanctions, to a total of over 70,000 deaths. Peace talks and international attempts at intervention, originally led by former UN Sec. General Kofi Annan, have failed.
To end the bloodshed, we ask the US government to provide material support to the Syrian National Coalition. Continued instability in the country is both a humanitarian crisis and a foreign policy failure. Turmoil in Syria threatens its own people, the citizens of Lebanon, the greater progress of the Arab region, and ultimately the US itself.
Act decisively to save the lives of the men, women, and children of Syria.
