The Federal Defense of Marriage Act (28 U.S.C. § 1738C, U.S.C. § 7) Is a discriminatory law affecting millions of families. It denies the right of marriage and other legal rights to Lesbian, Gay, and Transgendered families. While credit should be given to President Obama and his Administration for not actively defending the law, tax payers money is still being utilized by Republican lawmakers in Congress to defend it. Parts this law have already been deemed unconstitutional by federal courts, yet it still exists.
This legislation has denied rights granted under the US Constitution legally to millions of Americans to include Military Members, both active and veterans. This type of discrimination should not be written into law and should be fully repealed.
