This petition's title quotes the Sailor's Creed, though each service has something similar. The Navy and the DoD, however, have been woefully complicit in the continued suppression of peaceful democratic efforts in Bahrain, preferring to continue renting space from the regime for the US Fifth Fleet to taking a principled stance against systematic torture, the taking of political prisoners, and a culture of intimidation.
Our options:
1. The Unlikely: pull the 5th Fleet out of Bahrain
2. The Unthinkable: change the words of the Sailor's Creed to "defend freedom and democracy when convenient"
3. The Preferred: we find our heretofore misplaced Honor, muster some Courage, and demonstrate a Commitment to the values we espouse
We ought not be made frauds when reciting the Sailor's Creed.
