Ethanol should be a classified as a Schedule 1 drug under the DEA because it has no currently accepted medical use and a proven high potential for abuse and it's abuse has been proven to result in severe psychological and physical dependence. Basically, ethanol is the definition of a Schedule 1 drug and should be treated as such.
