We petition the Obama Administration to recognize “alot” as an official word in the English language used to describe a given amount--separate from “a lot” as in a lot to build on or a lot used to sell/park cars.
The phrase “a lot” has two different meanings: one meaning is “having a plentiful amount or abundance.” The second meaning is “to have a space of land that is open for use.” It would be simpler to have two different words with two different meanings.
This idea will help correct one of the most common grammatical errors. We urge The Obama Administration to act and implement “alot” as a separate, independent word into the latest edition of the American dictionary.
